Santa Barbara Chinese School is committed to providing excellence in Chinese language instruction. Our mission is to create and offer educational programs that enable learners to discover and develop an appreciation for the evolving richness of the Chinese language and culture.

Our Programs

Classes are offered in three quarters during the school year, with approximately 8-9 sessions per quarter held during afterschool hours and on the weekends. Our student : teacher ratio is 5 : 1. Pinyin (Romanization phonetic system) with simplified Chinese characters is offered to help students master Mandarin Chinese. Summer camps from June to July will be launched in 2025! Beginner and Conversation Series

These introductory classes are designed for children with no prior background in Mandarin Chinese. Children engage in Chinese storytime, speaking, character recognition, and learn about Chinese culture.

ma li ping (mlp) LeVEL SERIES

This series is designed for children having an existing knowledge of Mandarin Chinese, and the majority of the class is conducted in Chinese (Mandarin). Children study and improve their reading, writing, and speaking skills.
